Induction Loop

The hall includes an Induction Loop system for people with hearing aids. There are also pairs of speakers used in the main hall mounted under the ceiling, one pair halfway down the hall, and the second pair near the rear of the hall. There is a small cupboard to the left of the large curtains in the main hall. The cupboard contains the electronics and a directional microphone to pick up the audio.  This system is not suitable as a Public Address (PA) System for an event. The power output is quite low. It can however be used to augment a PA system or public speaker for those people with hearing aids that use the induction loop system.

If you are considering an event which requires amplification, we recommend that you bring your own equipment along to the hall.

Contact the booking secretary to find out more about the Inducton Loop system, and how to access it.

Use of Bouncy Castles and other Inflatable structures

Prestwood Village Hall PLI (Public Liability Insurance) excludes the use of Bouncy Castles in the hall and in the surrounding grounds. You may still use a Bouncy Castle for your event however you must provide written evidence that you have obtained your own Public Liability Insurance and have indemnified Prestwood Village Hall against any claims through the use or installation of a bouncy castle at the Village Hall.

It is also worth considering the space available. While the installation and use is your responsibility we have offered the following broad guidance to anyone considering using one for their event.

In the diagram and photo below you can see that there are roof support girders positioned in regular intervals across the width of the main hall. These would not normally present a hazard unless the bouncy castle size allows a child or adult to come into contact with them. We recommend that you consider placing any inflatable structure at least 2.5m away from any wall. The structure including the height and taking account of anyone on top of the structure should not be higher than 3.2m. The highest point of the ceiling is 4.1m in the centre of the hall.

We also recommend that you carry out a risk assessment before bringing a Bouncy Castle into the hall as part of your event. Considering things like the size of the structure, the height of the structure including people standing on it, the distance from the walls, general safety and supervision.
