Prestwood Players (Theatre Group)
We are a local amateur theatre company which has been active in the village of Prestwood since 1969. Each year we aim to put on three different productions and put on various other events throughout the year.
There are many different tasks involved in putting on successful productions, some that can be filled by newcomers, and others that require skills and experience built up over time, including
Acting – which can be daunting at first, if you have never before “trod the boards” you can try with a small or non-speaking role, knowing that there are experienced and supportive people around you, who can help you build your confidence and talent to be able to take on a more challenging character or even a lead role in the future
Creative – we have lots of opportunities for you to express your creativity! People’s creative ideas need turning into reality so all sorts of skills are required, such as: woodworking (for set construction), painting (for backdrops, set and props), set and prop making and organising, needlework (at times, quite extravagant costumes!), make-up, lighting, sound, publicity and computer skills (posters, flyers, programmes etc)
Organising – Certain key roles are ultimately needed to make each production happen. These include: directing, stage managing, producing and assisting which can be a good opportunity to learn the ropes. Also, our committee, who behind the scenes run the ship to make sure it stays afloat, safe, inclusive and fun for all.
How do I get involved?
Contact us on the details found on our contact page to get yourself onto our distribution list for publicity about upcoming productions or to enquire about getting involved, contact a member of the committee, or come along to one of our productions and ask any member of the cast or crew about becoming a member of the club.

King's Church
King’s Church
The King’s Church is a community church –
- A community of people who love to worship God, to learn from his word and to pray together. Our Sunday services start at 10.30am, with refreshments served from 10.20am. Visitors are always welcome. Please check our website here https://www.kingschurchprestwood.org/ as there are a few Sundays in the year when the village hall is occupied so we meet elsewhere. Every couple of months we offer a Sunday breakfast or lunch followed by a short service. There is also a group for children during part of the Sunday service. We work together with other local churches, enjoying joint services and the children’s holiday week, Lighthouse.
- A community of people who seek to serve and bless the community in which we live, initiating and supporting many local projects from youthwork (Misbourne Area Youth) to community transport (Prestwood Area Community Transport) and a local free newspaper (HP16 The Source). Our minister, Colin Veysey, will be well known to many and has always been involved in many local community groups. Our band, The Wick Trimmers are often playing at local events and run a popular monthly folk club, Chequers Folk.
